The RAIDZONE family of disk array solutions provides large amounts of reliable, high performance, feature-rich disk storage in a compact and affordable package. All RAIDZONE solutions are based on the SmartCan, a unique high density, hot pluggable disk enclosure that allows 5 standard 3.5-inch disks to be mounted in the space of 3 half-height devices. One or more SmartCans can be installed internally in a computer case, or installed in rack mount or tower enclosures for external connection to the computer. Each SmartCan contains five independent VLSI disk controller chips, each of which is capable of using DMA to independently tranfer data directly between a disk and the computer's PCI bus. This enables RAIDZONE disk arrays to achieve extremely high aggregate throughput from multiple high speed disks. In addition, each SmartCan contains its own pair of cooling fans, and an set of monitoring, diagnostic and display components. RAIDZONE Disk Array software is currently available for Windows NT. Its easy-to-use GUI interface supports RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID5 (striping with striped parity) and RAID 10 (striped mirrors) capabilities. Hot swapping and hot spare are both supported, and detailed status and diagnostics are provided. This manual contains everything you need to know to install and configure your RAIDZONE disk array hardware and software. Once you've installed the RAIDZONE software on your computer, the same information is available as online help. It is also available on the RAIDZONE web site (www.raidzone.com). |
