4.3.4 Configure - Free Hot Spare

To free up a disk that has been designated as a Hot Spare, proceed as follows:

1. Use the mouse to select the Hot Spare disk you wish to free.
2. From the RAIDZONE menu select Configure, then select the Free Hot Spare submenu.
3. The RAIDZONE Administrator program will then ask for confirmation before releasing the Hot Spare.
4. In order for the Hot Spareto become visible again to the operating system, a reboot is required.

When you designate a disk to be a Hot Spare, RAIDZONE hides the disk from the operating system. When you free the Hot Spare, a system reboot is required so that RAIDZONE can unhide the disk and allow it to be used for other purposes.
