4.3.4 Configure - Free Hot Spare
To free up a disk that has been designated as a Hot Spare, proceed as follows:
- Use the mouse to select the Hot Spare disk you wish to free.
- From the RAIDZONE menu select Configure, then select the Free Hot Spare submenu.
- The RAIDZONE Administrator program will then ask for confirmation before releasing the Hot Spare.
- In order for the Hot Spareto become visible again to the operating system, a reboot is required.
When you designate a disk to be a Hot Spare, RAIDZONE hides the disk from the operating system. When you free the Hot Spare, a system reboot is required so that RAIDZONE can unhide the disk and allow it to be used for other purposes. |
