4.3.1 Configure - New Mirror
Use this command to create a new Disk Level mirrored pair, as follows:
- Use the mouse to select the first disk member of the Mirror set.
- Hold down the Shift or Ctrl key and use the mouse to select the second member of the Mirror set.
- Select Configure from the menu, then select the New Mirror submenu.
- The RAIDZONE Administrator program will then ask for confirmation before establishing the Mirror.
- A system reboot is required to complete the mirroring process. Upon reboot, RAIDZONE synchronizes the Mirror set.
With Disk Level Mirroring, the secondary member of the mirrored pair is hidden from the operating system, and all I/O to the secondary member is done transparently through the RAIDZONE device driver. Both members are exact duplicates of each other. If one member fails, all disk reads and writes are redirected to the healthy member. The failed disk is tagged as ``orphaned", and all write and read accesses to this member cease until the disk is rebuilt or replaced. |
